Mackinaw City, MI: Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse

We headed from Traverse City up to one of the places I was most looking forward to on this trip, Mackinac Island! Well, we actually stopped for the night in Mackinaw City. Eric found us a magical deal at the (really nice) Super 8 right across the street from Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse! We could also see the bridge from our hotel window. It was awesome. Also, there was this swing in front of our hotel, so you know it's good:

When we got settled, we walked across the street to check out the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse.

It was completely fenced in, within a larger park. The people you see below were doing some kind of photo shoot.

We liked it because it looks like of like a castle :)

We were there too late in the day to take a tour (this seems to be a trend), but it was still very nice to walk around and take photos.

The rest of our time in Mackinaw City was spend walking down to the downtown area (just a little over a mile from where we were staying), finding a place to eat dinner that was still open at 9pm (surprisingly hard), and wandering around.

Have you been to Mackinaw City? What did you think?
