Arlington, TX: Rangers Ballpark / Globe Life Park Tour

Weather continued to be our enemy in Texas. Sunday morning we wanted to take a tour of Rangers Ballpark, now called Globe Life Park, but it was raining and cold. I called the park to see if they were still giving tours, and found out they were! And they were even more frequent than normal (every half hour instead of every hour) since the Final Four was next door and they had been anticipating crowds. We left the hotel immediately and found ourselves at the ballpark, umbrellas and rain jackets ready, in about 5 minutes.

I like the baseballs in front.

Tours start from the First Base box office and there is a parking lot (free for tours) right across the street.

There's a nice view of Cowboys Stadium, but there's not much else in Arlington to look at :)

The Rangers had to add signage in Korean for Shin-Soo Choo, who joined them this year after doing so well for the Reds last year.

The Rangers tour included the press box, which always has a great view of the ballpark.

We also got to check out of the suites. The Rangers have suites named after all the Hall of Famers, plus a few others...

...like George W. (We didn't get to go in this one.)

This is the view from the Major of Arlington's suite.

The coolest part of the tour was getting to go to the batting cages.

Since we were there in-season, there were all sorts of goodies around. This is a rosin bag.

We also got to check out the media interview room.

And finally, we got to go down to the dugout. We weren't allowed on the field (unlike Petco Park, where we got to pet the grass), but being in the dugout is pretty cool.

It rained a lot!

They (usually) need a lot of sunscreen in Texas (just not when we're in town).

That says "WIN" in the horseshoe.

Even with the rain we had a good time. Check out the other baseball parks I've been to here.

  2. For this conversation, we will adhere to "Genuine Theme Parks," a term which portrays Disney, Widespread, a considerable lot of the Busch parks, and certain others like De Efterling in Holland.
