Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, MI: Miners Castle

After leaving Munising Falls, we headed up to Miners Castle. There were a ton of people here; there's a rest area with plenty of parking, picnic tables, paved walkways, the works...

...and an incredible view.

Wow, right? This was probably my favorite overlook of Pictured Rocks.

There are several overlooks here that afford slightly different views of the rock and Lake Superior.

One thing that a lot of people do but we didn't (in the interest of time and particular attractions we definitely wanted to hit, like the interior waterfalls and log slide) is to take a cruise along the shore of Pictured Rocks. I can only imagine how awesome this would be, and was so excited to see Alana's photos of this from her cruise this past summer over at Equal Parts of a Whole :) If/when we go back to this area I would love to take one of the cruises!

  1. Oh my gosh! Miner's Castle was probably my favorite place to visit along the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. If you do the cruise, definitely go at sunset. The sun rays hitting the rocks is absolutely breathtaking and makes any picture look incredible.
