Columbus, IN: Irwin Gardens

Irwin Gardens is one of those places that I always meant to go to while living in the area, but somehow never managed to get there. The garden is only open to the public (free!) on Tuesday afternoons, and the house itself is a paid tour. During our summer of travel, we happened to be staying with my parents and had nothing to do on a drizzly-but-warm Tuesday afternoon. So we headed downtown to the garden...

We missed the spring explosion of flowers, but what they had there (and all the greenery) was nice.

We were only in the gardens for around 15 minutes. If it were nicer outside, I'm sure it would be a lovely place to sit and read. The guests at the Inn have their own porch area to read, and one lady was doing just that while we were there.

  1. So pretty! I just was talking to someone about how cool Columbus is because of all of the beautiful architecture. I've got to make a trip down there sometime to check it out. Nice to know there are free things to do as well!
