I really like what I'm doing with this blog, but it's time for me to buckle down and get serious about it! There are some things I want to accomplish and things I want to change up for 2014. I'd love to hear your opinion about all these things, too. My main "goal" for 2014 is to have more than two regular readers (although I love you two to pieces!!) - haha! I want to start earning some side income (which you'll hear more about in my "goals for self" post later), and to do that I'd like to ramp up this little blog.
First off, I am going to have a regular posting schedule. I've noticed the most successful blogs have a pretty predicable schedule and people know when to check the website or feed reader to see the latest updates. While I would love to post every single day, I know that's unlikely to happen. My aim right now is to have the following schedule: Monday Notes on Mondays, travel/exploration posts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Friday Photos on Fridays. Wednesdays will be reserved for various other things I want to write about, such as subscription box reviews or home-related happenings (DIY/cooking/crafting/etc), and I might not post every Wednesday. Depending on how much is going on, I might occasionally post extra travel posts on Mondays and Fridays, too. I'm aiming to start this schedule this week (!).
Secondly, good blogs look good. I am really going to work on making my pictures better (which is another "goals for self" goal -- photography and Photoshop lessons!) and making the site look better. It will be getting a re-design sometime in the next couple of months in order to really be functional, useful, and pretty. I'm also planning on buying a domain name (I already own several other domain names...why I haven't bought one for this yet is beyond me!) and getting the word out that I exist.
Finally, I would like to create opportunities for myself through this. I'd like 2014 to be all about opportunities -- for growth, for fun, just to take advantage of all the things we have. One opportunity is for a little extra money (who doesn't need extra money?) - I've joined Google AdSense and added a small ad in the bottom of the left sidebar, but I'm not currently planning on adding any more ads. Mostly I want to see what can happen if I really think about all the cool things to see and do wherever we are, and hope that it helps me to try to experience as much as I can. I love capturing memories, and maybe my memories and experiences can be a good resource for someone else traveling and exploring the same places I see.
Should I have any other goals? What do you want to see here?
