Moving and travels

Things are still nuts around here!

On Monday we packed up most of the moving truck, Tuesday we did the rest, then said goodbye to our apartment and headed out of Maryland. We drove through some insane storms on the way and got to Cincinnati late Tuesday night. Wednesday we headed over to my parents' house in Indiana and unloaded the truck into a storage unit during some more storms. Thursday we tried to relax (moving is tiring) and since then we've been back to seeing houses. We still haven't found one. So for now we're still staying with my parents (about an hour from Bloomington) with most of our stuff in storage and the fragile things in my parents' basement. Saturday we are heading down to Tennessee for a week, then we are heading on what should be an awesome trip to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. I can't wait!

Here is our itinerary if anyone has anything to recommend:

Tennessee trip (July 6-14):
Dollywood, Pigeon Forge shows and entertainment, Great Smokey Mountains hiking and camping

Michigan trip (July 16-27):
16-17: South Bend to see Courtney
17-18: Holland to see Hope College, sand dunes, Lake Michigan
18-19: Travel to the UP. I want to see Mackinac Island, cherries, and generally just stop and see interesting things.
19-24: Marquette in the UP with Ali
24-25: Milwaukee for breweries and baseball if possible
25-27: Chicago to see my brother, baseball if possible
27: Robbie's wedding at Purdue

You can see it's going to be a ton of fun. I have never been to Michigan or Wisconsin so if you have recommendations let me know!

  1. Ah! So much traveling - I'm so jealous.

I have so many recommendations! My family just went to Pigeon Forge last summer and it is so awesome. Like the Wisconsin Dells but in the mountains. Definitely ride all of the rides at Dollywood. I especially loved the Mine Ride whatever it's called and the Soaring Eagle thing. (Eep, I forget the names). So fun! Definitely do some hiking and check out Cade's Cove (http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/cadescove.htm) - great for walking and there's a nice little waterfall hike to do.

As far as Michigan goes - you're hitting some great places already! Holland is gorgeous, sand dunes are so fun, and the Lake is sure to be beautiful. Mackinac Island is one of my favorite places on the planet but I haven't been back in so long. I've always wanted to rent a bike and ride around the island all day, ending with a meal of only fudge and beer. Definitely take some pictures of the Grand Hotel for me! It's a dream of mine to stay the night there.

    So jealous of your vacation!
