Memory Lane: 1 Year Ago, Picking up our Marriage License in Denver

One year ago today, Eric and I flew to Denver in preparation for our tiny mountaintop wedding! Since we were getting married early Monday morning (the 22nd), we needed to pick up the license the Friday before (the 19th).

The building we needed to go to to get the marriage license was the Wellington E. Webb building. I can't make this stuff up - what are the odds that Eric's last name (and now mine, too) was the name of the building we'd be starting our marriage in?

We walked into the building and immediately were helped by a man who directed us down a long hallway with this giant congratulations sign. We had already filled out all the information online, so we were taken to Madeline at station #7. She filled out the rest of the license, asked us if we wanted to get married then and there (no, we'll go to the mountain), and the handed it to us. There were couples at other stations next to us who were all dressed up in their wedding finery, getting married right there. It was the most wonderful feeling to be surrounded by all these happy people, and was so cool to experience.

Once we had our license in hand, we got to sign the giant congratulations banner, too.

License in hand (inside an envelope, a safe place in the car), we then settled in to wait for our friends to arrive to town for the weekend!
