After checking out the waterfall at McCormick's Creek on Sunday, we went on a second hike to Wolf Cave. This is on Trail 5, and it's normally a ~2 mile loop. The entrance park ranger let us know that the right side of the trail passes over the creek three times and there aren't bridges, so it probably wouldn't be fun to do with the water as high as it was (maybe we will finish it in late summer or during a dry spell). We stayed on the left part (as looking at the map) and went up to Twin Bridges, then turned around.
A bit hard to read (sorry) but here's the Legend of Wolf Cave:
We had a really nice green walk out to the cave. Several people with dogs passed us on this trail. It's a wide trail and mostly gravel, which was okay since it had been raining but it was kind of loud. There are several nicely done informational posts on the trails; in this one we learned about sink holes.
Here is Wolf Cave! I had no idea what to expect so this was pretty cool.
A bunch of kids came up while we were here and bolted through the entrance. They seemed like they had been here multiple times before and the first comments out of their mouths were, "It's really wet in here today!" and "I should have worn my boots!". You can climb through the whole cave and come out the other side (which is where the Twin Bridges are). We did not go in the cave.
You can see why not -- you really have to get down to get in there.
The red light is a glow from one of the kids' head lamps.
We walked around back on the trail to the Twin Bridges, also a cool natural wonder.
Worth the mile walk out here for sure. There were quite a lot of people (especially kids) at this one, probably around 15 just while we were here, so be prepared for some crowds and accidentally getting other people in your photos.
