Hocking Hills State Park, Logan, OH: Camping & more information for Hocking Hills

We had beautiful weather for our trip to Hocking Hills - a very good thing, since we were camping for two nights.
We were at campsite 88, which was the last available campsite when we booked a few weeks in advance. Summer is a popular time to visit Hocking Hills State Park (Ohio's most popular state park), and the campground definitely had a lot of people (tents and RVs, and also a lot of dogs).

We booked our site through the state park website (linked to above, $25/night). If you just Google "hocking hills camping" you may find other campgrounds that aren't actually in the state park. You might want that and you might not - just know what it is you're booking (look up addresses, etc). We wanted to be in the park, and luckily our campsite was very close to a trailhead to get to Old Man's Cave without driving.

Our site was slanted downward with only two decent spots for tents, both near the road. We were in shade in the morning and in sunlight during the afternoon.

Chairs around the firepit were wobbly from the slant, but it wasn't the end of the world. There was some mud here that didn't seem to want to dry out, though, which was a slightly more inconvenient problem :)

The picnic table was also slanted but we were able to find a spot for the stove to cook things evenly.

There is a swimming pool with two water slides next to the shower/laundry facilities (hot water, 3 shower stalls, 3 bathroom stalls, well lit). The pool was great even when crowded.

Both nights we had amazingly clear skies and could see thousands of starts. I recommend bringing a good camera and a tripod if you are at all interested in taking star photos.

Our stay for the weekend was fun (despite the slanted ground, and some loud neighbors) and I can definitely see why Hocking Hills is so popular. I anticipate coming back here again.
